So…What’s
New in Infection Control???
Thursday, October 25, 2007 9:00 am – noon (3 CE credits) Repeated on Friday, October 26, 2007 1:30 – 4:30 pm (3 CE credits) $35 additional registration fee required for official certificate. Today it is our legal and ethical responsibility, as licensed dental healthcare providers, to follow OSHA regulations as well as the most current guidelines in infection control as published by the CDC for dental healthcare facilities. Most State Boards of Dentistry, including NY, have taken on these current CDC guidelines “by reference,” as a matter of law. This being the case, our objective in the time provided will be to bring you up to date and highlight some of the issues that are new to the current guidelines not previously addressed by the CDC. These areas will include aspects of instrument reprocessing, hand hygiene (including nails and jewelry), Post Exposure protocols, engineered sharps / safety devices, dental unit waterlines and even some new Hep B recommendations. This course satisfies the NYS mandated infection control requirement for 4 more years. (Provider #IC008) Recommended for….Dentists, Hygienists, Assistants. ![]() Harold Edelman, DDS has been in active practice for 32 years and a consultant in infection control for 14 years, during which he has provided infection control services / programs for over 800 dental offices. Dr. Edelman is certified by OSHA to teach “Voluntary Compliance in the Private Sector” and “Biohazards.” He has been retained as an expert witness in multiple cases of litigation alleging disease transmission in a dental facility and has been involved in 67 OSHA inspections of dental offices to date. He has presented at many national, regional and local dental meetings and organizations. |
