Over 75 percent of 200 million adults in the United States have some form of gum disease. Half of these adults require treatment. Unfortunately less than 5 percent have received care. More consumers, after learning they can be treated successfully, without surgery and painlessly, will come for treatment.

The new standard of care will be reviewed, providing the practitioner with the clinical understanding of how the disease can now be successfully treated. A simple, new screening system for gum disease will be reviewed, outlining a standard system of treatment for each category identified. Also to be discussed will be a successful system for home hygiene, instrumentation, and expanded uses for the new chemotherapeutic drugs.

Topics Covered

· Review of the oral-systemic connection

· Conservative management of periodontitis, including instrumentation and

site specific treatment to manage disease

· Site management of the medically compromised patient to control bleeding

· Noninvasive analgesic management for treatment

· Successful motivation of existing, and attraction of new patients for care
