Easier, More Predictable Oral Surgery in General Practice Friday, November 7, 2008 8:30am-4:00pm (6 CE credits) Most dentists perform exodontia. Unfortunately, 10-20% of all extractions become “surgical”. This course emphasizes techniques to manage difficult extractions, such as: - Incisions and flaps for better access. - How and where to section teeth and remove bone. - Newer instrument designs that make a big difference. Many of these pearls are things you were not taught in dental school. With this foundation, the discussion extends to other procedures that require the same instruments, such as alveoplasty, continuous-lock suturing, bone grafting extraction sites, and moderate third molar impactions in young people. Related topics include oral sedation and managing of patients on Coumadin. Recommended for ...Dentists and Assistants. ![]() Karl R. Koerner, DDS, MS has presented hundreds of didactic and participation oral surgery courses at international, national, and regional meetings and at the state level for many dental associations and AGD groups. He has authored several books and many articles on oral surgery for the general dentist. He is currently head of the Oral Surgery Department at the Scottsdale Center for Dental Education where he teaches and coordinates the oral surgery curriculum. He is not an oral surgeon but learned oral surgery in the U.S. Army and limits his practice to uncomplicated oral surgery procedures including exodontia, bone grafts, and implants. |
