Porcelain Fused To Metal
Frameworks: Fine Tuning Your Techniques
Supported by an educational grant from Vident. Thursday, November 6,
2008 1:00pm – 4:00pm (3 CE
credits) Throughout our career as Dental
Technologists, there are times when we experience technical problems
that slow down our day, or even our week, and we wonder why. You may
say “I’ve been using this product for years and never had a problem
with it. The manufacturer must have changed something.” What usually
happens is that we are missing a crucial step (or steps) that are
negatively affecting the final outcome of the restoration, and we can
go crazy trying to figure out what that may be. This basic presentation
is designed to address these issues. It will cover detailed steps
regarding the fabrication of a 6 unit, maxillary anterior metal
framework, prepared to accept porcelain. From the initial impression,
model & die, waxing, spruing, investing, torch casting, and
metal finishing will be discussed and illustrated. Also how to maintain
accuracy when using the required materials, and the avoidance of
rocking cast bridges will also be covered.
This presentation serves as a great teaching tool for the novice technician, as well as an excellent review for the advanced practitioner.
