Endodontic Retreatment; A Clinical Review of Principles and Techniques

Educational Objectives: To present to the participant a perspective of retreatment that includes principles, diagnosis, and materials used in Endodontic retreatment.

Concluding this presentation, each participant should be able to:
  • Describe the historical concepts towards Endodontic retreatment
  • Review the materials and instrumentation that have been used and are currently popular for Endodontic retreatment
  • Diagnose patients requiring Endodontic retreatment and give a relative prognosis
  • Understand the treatment planning options regarding retreatment and implants
  • Review several technical procedures using clinical cases as examples

Hesham M. Tagouri, DMD, MDS
received his dental degree from University of Pennsylvania.  He finished his advanced dental training in Endodontics along with his Masters from the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Tagouri is in private practice limited to Endodontics in Snyder, NY.  He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Endodontics at the UB School of Dental Medicine.









Eugene A. Pantera, Jr., DDS, MS
, is a Clinical Associate Professor in Endodontics; Director, Advanced Program in Endodontics; and Director, Division of Endodontics at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.  In addition to several peer reviewed publications and presentations, he is a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics, Journal of Dental Education, and the New York State Dental Journal.  A Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the International College of Dentists, Dr. Pantera practiced general dentistry for quite a few years before climbing the ivory tower and appreciates the problems faced “in the front lines.”  He currently maintains a private faculty practice limited to Endodontics.


Dr. Pantera  and  Dr. Tagouri present seminars nationally and internationally and lectures to all levels of dental and graduate students on varied endodontic topics.
