Record Keeping Basics - Paper or Computer

Friday, October 23, 2009
1:30pm-4:30pm (3 CE credits)

This course details recommended documentation techniques for thorough record keeping.  Appropriate records are vital for supporting diagnostic and treatment decisions, as well as to prevent payment problems with dental benefit plans.  Malpractice and adverse insurance company “utilization review” problems can also be mediated with thorough and detailed records. Whether your records are paper, computer, or a little of both, basic information must be included. This program also offers specific details to help offices evaluate existing records.

Topics covered:
  • Key elements for an adequate chart, whether paper or computer
  • A 5-page guide to evaluating your existing charts
  • Medical histories, progress notes, and informed consent
  • How the dental chart can support an office faced with insurance carrier requests for “pay-back” on alleged overpayments.

Recommended for...Dentists Hygienists, Clinical Assistants, and Clerical Assistants
