Eligibility

* Graduate of an international dental school with satisfactorily completion of an academic program of study of no less than four years, culminating in a degree, diploma, or certificate in dentistry

* Registrants may be foreign national, US citizen or Permanent Resident

* Applicants whose native language is not English need a min. TOEFL score of 79

Schedule

Breakfast from 8am daily

Program begins 8:30am sharp

Optional Tutoring 5-7:30pm M-W

Mock Test: One full day

Bench Test Prep Course for International Dentists
March 18-23, 2024 in Buffalo NY

Based on feedback from past participants, we are placing more emphasis on practical skill improvement and more practice time in the lab/clinic.

This course is not a prerequisite nor does it guarantee admission to any dental school.


The University at Buffalo offers a Hands-on Bench Test preparatory course for international dentists. This course is optimal for those who may need better preparation in fixed and removable prosthodontics, operative dentistry, and treatment planning for the testing required by most U.S. dental schools as part of their admissions process.

 

The course features didactic and hands-on sessions under the guidance of School of Dental Medicine Faculty. Participants will be trained in the state-of-the-art Clinics and Laboratories at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine.


You can expect a  full day on Amalgams, lecture and practice; a full day on Composites, lecture and practice; a full day on Crowns, lecture and practice; a full day of Mock Testing and 1 extra day of practice on everything. Detailed daily schedule TBA.

 

Workshop Content

 

Indirect Restorative Dentistry (Fixed)

  • Anterior Tooth Preparation for Metal-ceramic Crown (PFM)

Direct Restorative Dentistry (Operative)

Posterior tooth preparation

  • Class II amalgam restoration
  • Class II composite restoration

Restorations of amalgam and composite preparations using various forms of matrix bands with emphasis on the use of sectional matrix.

 

Infection Control

Management of typodont in the clinic with SDM infection control guidelines.
