At the completion of the program, participants should be able to:

  1. Review the most relevant components of the 2018 Classification of Periodontal/ Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions
  2. Analyze clinical algorithms that will aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning of Periodontitis patients based on the staging and grading system
  3. Apply the staging and grading system to representative clinical cases to obtain the most appropriate diagnosis
  4. Discuss the challenges and opportunities that the use of the 2018 classification of periodontal diseases provides for clinical practice, teaching and research

UB Faculty:

Isolde Gina Rojas-Rudolph, DDS, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Biology at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. She has a Ph.D. in Oral Biology from The Ohio State University, a Periodontics Certificate from the University at Buffalo, and a DDS from the University of Concepcion, Chile. She is a predoctoral course director and is actively engaged in the improvement of the predoctoral curriculum in Periodontics at UB SDM. Her research interests are in the study of the pathogenesis of periodontitis and related oral diseases and their effects on systemic health using preclinical and clinical models.
