This course/lecture is designed to address critical problems encountered when performing root canal therapy using modern techniques to solve them. Magnification, CBCT and state of the art instruments, irrigation and obturation techniques should allow the clinician to deal with diverse situations removing organic tissue and lowering the microbial bio-burden in order to increase the potential for healing and long-term success.


Benefits of Attending and/or Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the Use of Ultrasonic Tips: Explain how ultrasonic tips are utilized to remove dentin and locate canals like the MB2.
  • Practice the Use of Reciprocation and Rotary Instruments: Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using reciprocation and rotary instruments.
  • Identify Recommended Irrigants and Activation Methods: Identify the appropriate irrigants for the root canal system and describe methods to activate them for improved removal of organic tissue and biofilm.
  • Understand and Practice Advanced Obturation Techniques: Gain understanding and proficiency in the hydraulic and continuous wave of condensation technique, and recognize the benefits of using bioceramic sealers.

The presentation includes references, which will also be printed in the handout containing all the written slides, along with the references.


Intended Audience

This course is suitable for general practitioners and dental students seeking to enhance their clinical skills and expand their ability to treat some molar teeth effectively. Dental assistants accompanying their GPs may also find the presentation beneficial as it provides insight into new techniques that the dentist may begin incorporating, thus fostering a deeper understanding of the procedures involved.
