Orthodontics...Facial Aesthetics Versus Stability Wednesday, April 21, 2010 In recent years there have been numerous innovations in orthodontics. These innovations include temporary anchorage devices, self ligating brackets, volumetric radiographic techniques and the use of soft tissue lasers. While all of this has been happening, and as part of these developments, orthodontists have gained a great deal of insight into micro, and macro facial aesthetics. There is, however, frequently a conflict between need to satisfy the demands made by facial, and dental aesthetics and those demands that dictate dental stability following orthodontic treatment. This presentation will address the evidence that supports both sides of the stability versus aesthetics argument and, it should be of value to all clinicians who have an interest in orthodontic treatment. UB Faculty Presenter: C. Brian Preston, B.D.S., D.Orth., M.Dent., Ph.D., an orthodontics specialist in Buffalo, N.Y. 6-9pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 (3 CE Credit Hrs ADA/CERP)
