of Orthodontists Biennial Meeting Friday, April 19, 2013, Hotel Albany, Albany, NY Efficient/Effective Digital Orthodontics Utilizing Smile Design Software
You can utilize digital design software to diagnose and treatment plan your patients, submit cases, modify and approve cases on software, perform clinical procedures to apply custom digital orthodontic appliances, and have a better understanding of what is possible with respect to orthodontic clinical efficiency.
Guest Faculty: Jeff Kozlowski DDS, is renowned for his unique perspective on clinical efficiency. An internationally sought-after lecturer, he has presented on topics including Clinical Efficiency, Digital Orthodontics, Facial Esthetics, Efficient Early Treatment, and Orthodontic Treatment Mechanics. Dr. Kozlowski graduated with a BS in Economics from Syracuse University prior to receiving his DDS and Orthodontic Specialty Certificate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been published in several orthodontic journals, including Seminars in Orthodontics, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, Clinical Impressions and The Progressive Orthodontist. He has practices in New London and East Lyme, CT.
Issue to be examined include: delegation of professional responsibilities, expanded duty qualifications, certified dental assisting, scope of practice rules, record keeping, patient transfer, statute of limitations, advertising, fee-splitting, protection of confidential information, patient dismissal vs. abandonment, requirements for a dentist practicing orthodontics, who can take x-rays, unprofessional conduct, license and registrations requirements.
The Office of Professional Discipline is not the enemy, but sometimes it acts like it. Learn what you need to know to avoid running afoul of this powerful and often unchecked agency. We will discuss the steps every dentist should take to avoid having OPD visit, as well as what to do if OPD knocks.
Guest Faculty: Eric Ploumis, DMD, JD is an attorney, an orthodontist, and an associate clinical professor at New York University. He limits his legal practice to business and transactional issues related to the practice of dentistry including practice transitions, partnership and employment agreements, office leases and the defense of allegations of professional misconduct.
